Hello, my name is Tammy Starkey. I graduated from Butler County Community College in 2002 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and a second degree in Business Management. I worked very hard in all of my courses; receiving a 4.0-grade point average for each semester. I have been a licensed Childcare Provider since 1997 and I enjoy it immensely!! I am the mother of two adult children which is the main reason for starting this childcare business so many years ago; furthermore, I am a grandmother of 5, two of whom are currently attending TLA. I am a self-motivated and responsible person. I maintain CPR and first aid certifications for infants on up to adults. Since 1997 I have attended many training classes on childcare and child development and have attended many cities and statewide conferences on Childcare. These conferences provide more ideas on activities to do with the children alongside increased knowledge of childcare practices. As a licensed provider I am required to participate in a minimum of 20 hours of childcare training each year; in addition to this training, I am required to have 2 hours of training on nutrition each year to participate in a state-assisted food program; however, my attendance usually exceeds these requirements.
Tammy’s Little Angels aims to create a safe, stimulating, and educational home environment with a semi-structured daily plan. TLA offer a variety of activities, including playtime, skill-building, storytelling, arts and crafts, and more. Nutritious meals, hygiene, and good manners are encouraged. Internet access is available but supervised with parental consent. Children will learn through guided and unguided creative play, covering various topics like colors, shapes, animals, and social skills. Tammy’s Little Angels emphasizes a non-pressured approach, allowing children to learn at their own pace in anurturing environment.
All children need to love and be loved. They want to please and they want to learn. They have a great need to move and explore the world around them with all of their senses.
Some are active or quiet, while others are rowdy. They in alertness, talent, and strength. Some get tired easily, while others seem to never wind down. In a memorable saying I once heard “All children come in all shapes, sizes and speeds”-unknown.
All children will go through similar stages but not always at the same age or for the same length of time. While they are alike in many ways, there are many ways in the which they differ.
As children grow, they go through the various stages of early childhood. Strangers will alarm most 1 – year old. Most 18month old tend to get into everything; most 2 years old are insecure about being separated from loved ones. Many 3 years old, while playing, forget to go to the restroom. Most 4years old ask a million question. The majority of 5 years old are bossy.
Children differ in appearance because of heredity. Each child generally resembles the natural parent in color eyes, hair, skin, stature, and build. Children are probably more alike that they different but they will grow and develop best if we remember that each child is unique and help them to capitalize on it. Above all, our childcare are angels!!
